Job Overview:
The start date for this position is approximately June 2010.

Performs a variety of professional engineering tasks of an analysis, design, development, or test nature in one
or more specialized engineering fields.

Assignments usually include one or more of the following:
• Research investigations, component or system design or test; development and analysis of test
data/materials, components or systems; preparation of specifications, material composition and process
study; development of rationale for preliminary cost estimates, and other activities requiring knowledge of
principles and techniques commonly employed in the specific area of assignments.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
• General engineering/science background;
• Understanding and use of analytical, design or process procedures pertinent to the particular field of
engineering.
• Knowledge of statistical methods.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings and specifications;
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely;
• May require the use of engineering test equipment, CAD [UG NX3 preferred) and/or various computer systems.
• Ability to operate effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities:
After orientation and training, performs entry level professional engineering assignments under general
supervision and following established policies. The position requires some professional judgment and a
limited use and/or application of basic principles, theories and concepts.

Typical responsibilities include:
• Performs a variety of engineering tasks that are planned to provide experience and familiarization with the engineering staff and Aerojet programs, methods and practices. (10%)
• Applies theoretical knowledge and engineering techniques to the solution of basic analytical engineering problems, correlates and analyzes data, and follows operations through a series of related detailed steps or procedures. (50%)
• Assists in preparation of reports, presentations and documentation. (20%)
• Exercise of judgment is required on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations
of engineering alternatives. (10%)
• With continuing development and experience, will receive unusual or difficult problems that require
selection of techniques or procedures to be applied to non-routine work. (10%)
Failure to achieve results are normally capable of being overcome without serious effect on schedules and
projects.
Contacts are primarily with immediate supervisor and other professionals in the assigned section or group.

Qualifications:
This is an entry level exempt position requiring a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Aerospace).

SPECIAL WORK CONDITIONS
Work place may include areas where chemical materials are encountered. May involve exposure to variable
noise levels. Must customarily have a high consciousness for personnel and equipment safety. May be required to utilize a variety of personal protective equipment.

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. citizenship).
